The “Summer Sessions — Media Over IP Education” series we launched with the Video Services Forum (VSF) at the end of May is coming to a close, and we had the pleasure of welcoming several hundred viewers for each presentation! The full slate of weekly presentations will remain available as an educational resource at http://www.ipshowcase.org/summersessions2020/.

For many industry professionals, the Summer Sessions have helped to fill a void created when live trade shows came to a halt. Though the series is ending, our focus on providing ongoing education on media-over-IP remains strong! In fact, we recently opened a call for presentations for the new IP Oktoberfest 2020 virtual event, slated for Sept. 29 – Oct. 1. (The deadline has been extended to Aug. 31! More details are available at www.ipshowcase.org/call-for-presentations/.)

IP Oktoberfest will make valuable presentations and demonstrations available to a broad audience despite current limitations on travel and face-to-face gatherings. The event will focus on the significant progress made toward an all-IP ecosystem that supports today’s real-world media productions; how the SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards and the AMWA NMOS technology stack are improving media workflows; and the benefits that the IPMX (Internet Protocol Media Experience) set of open standards and specifications will bring to IP workflows.

In addition to organizing these highly educational events, AIMS has launched the new website (www.ipmx.io) that describes IPMX in detail, explains how this standards-based (SMPTE ST 2110) approach ensures interoperability for AV over IP, and outlines specific ways IPMX can make IP-based media workflow simpler and more economical.

The AIMS website also offers helpful resources including a series of videos, originally created for InfoComm Connected 2020, about IPMX and why IPMX matters to the broadcast and Pro AV markets. The full series is available at https://aimsalliance.org/infocomm-connected-2020-videos/.

AIMS continues its work to advance interoperability for IP-based workflows in both media and entertainment and in the professional audio/video industries. Stay tuned for more news about IP Oktoberfest 2020 and other AIMS events dedicated to this mission.
