InfoComm 2023 was a smashing success, and AIMS was there to host a live interoperability demonstration of the Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX™) standard. Several AIMS members including Barco, Macnica, Matrox, Megapixel-VR, and Plexus AV provided their own demonstrations of IPMX products at the show and gave 15-minute presentations on a variety of IPMX-related topics. Offered in a mini-theater in AIMS’ booth, seven different introductory, intermediate, and advanced sessions were available — covering everything from an introduction to IPMX to gateways between IPMX and other media protocols.
AIMS also highlighted the initial drafts of the Video Services Forum’s (VSF) TR-10 suite of Technical Recommendations for IPMX, which has recently been made available to the public, as highlighted by TV Tech in a new article here. A representative was available at AIMS’ booth for in-depth discussions on these documents.
In other news, AV Magazine has published “IPMX Demystified With Short Answers to Tough Questions.” In the new article, PlexusAV’s Steven Cogels, global director of business development, and Aaron Doughten, director of technology and marketing, explain why IPMX should be used instead of an existing standard or gateway product, and why design by committee is an advantage. In addition, AVNetwork recently published Andrew Stark’s article “Deep Dive: Do You Know the Difference Between IPMX and SMPTE ST 2110 (and AES67)?” For a thorough and interesting explanation, give it a read.
