As we started out the year, AIMS was working diligently to prepare the new Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) for its introduction at ISE 2020. Designed to enable carriage of compressed and uncompressed video, audio, and data over IP networks, the IPMX set of specifications and standards addresses the ProAV industry’s need for a single set of common, ubiquitous standards-based protocols that ensure interoperability for AV over IP.

In addition to working on IPMX itself, the AIMS ProAV Working Group created a presentation program to explain for ISE 2020 attendees and the press just how and why IPMX matters. AIMS supported the effort with advance communications, including two press releases, and with onsite banners and signage at the show itself. We’re happy to report that both the press and show attendees took notice – and they liked what they saw.

Why has IPMX gotten such a positive response? David Chiappini, chair of the AIMS ProAV Working Group, put it simply: “As the ProAV world increasingly moves toward IP networking, an understanding of IPMX and enabling standards and specifications will be essential.”

ISE 2020 provided an excellent forum for education on and discussion of IPMX, and AIMS will continue promoting it at events throughout the year. Further information about IPMX and presentations from the show are available on the AIMS website at https://aimsalliance.org/theater-presentations-ise-2020/.
