BOTHELL, Wash. — May 15, 2023 — The Audio Engineering Society (AES), Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), European Broadcasting Union (EBU), SMPTE®, and the Video Services Forum (VSF) today announced that over 40 videos of presentations given in the IP Showcase Theater at the 2023 NAB Show in Las Vegas are now available for viewing on the IP Showcase website. Given by top experts, the 30-minute presentations cover a wide range of IP-related topics — from the latest developments in SMPTE ST 2110 to NMOS, ground-to-cloud architectures, IPMX, QC monitoring and maintenance, cloud-based production, and much more.
The IP Showcase is committed to educating attendees at major industry events on the potential of IP media solutions, and the IP Showcase Theater is at the heart of that commitment. Unlike other NAB presentations that were company-sponsored or thought leadership opportunities, presentations in the IP Showcase Theater were delivered by hands-on engineers who instruct attendees on exactly how to move to an IP infrastructure.
“The IP Showcase at the 2023 NAB Show was a resounding success, featuring more presentations in the Theater than ever before. For those who weren’t able to attend — or need a refresher on a certain topic — the online library of presentation videos offers a valuable educational resource,” said Andrew Starks, an AIMS board of directors member and director of product management for Macnica. “We’d like to thank our members, partners, and of course the presenters themselves for making the event one to remember.”
The IP Showcase presentation videos are available for viewing here. Further information about the IP Showcase is available at www.ipshowcase.org.
AIMS, its partners, and its membership have been busy this last month, and more is in the works.
Of course, the most notable April event for AIMS was the IP Showcase at the 2023 NAB Show. The IP Showcase has proven to be a vital source of information and insight for media organizations moving to IP. In its return to this year’s Centennial NAB Show, IP Showcase focused on the business and creative potential of IP media solutions. The popular event concentrated on market requirements as media operations move toward all-IP connectivity and content delivery to multiscreen platforms, as well as the evolving SMPTE ST 2110 standards and the AMWA NMOS technology stack and how they are improving media workflows for large and small deployments alike.
IP Showcase is unique in that unlike trying to sell you products or solutions, collaborator-partners – AES, AIMS, AMWA, EBU, SMPTE, and VSF – are dedicated to educating, exploring, and engaging with attendees, as well as providing demonstrations and resources designed to ease deployment for end users.
Technical presentations at the IP Showcase Theater were an important part of this year’s show covering topics related to media-over-IP, timing in IP production, interoperability, compression in IP production, test and measurement, RIST, PTP, IPMX, and much more. In addition to the presentations on the Main Stage, the IP Showcase also featured new Meet Up sessions in which attendees were invited to participate in discussion sessions with industry experts, and address current topics and issues related to the industry’s transition to IP. Couldn’t make it to this year’s IP Showcase? Videos of each presentation will be available soon at ipshowcase.org! You can also read more about the must-see event in audioXpress’ article “IP Showcase Set to Educate, Explore, and Engage at the 2023 NAB Show.”
Looking ahead to the next big show, AIMS is hard at work preparing for its return to InfoComm 2023. The alliance will be exhibiting in Booth 4181, June 14-16 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. AIMS will bring the latest news and innovations regarding the IPMX standard. Registration is now open, so, be sure to mark your calendar and keep an eye out for further details on the IPMX.io and AIMS websites. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!

Event to Inform Attendees on Wide Range of IP-Related Topics While Providing an Opportunity to Share Ideas in a New Meetup Section
The Audio Engineering Society (AES), Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), European Broadcasting Union (EBU), SMPTE®, and the Video Services Forum (VSF) today announced that the IP Showcase will return to the 2023 NAB Show, April 15-19 in Las Vegas. Taking place in the new West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, booth W2867, the IP Showcase will highlight the great strides that have been taken to achieve an all-IP ecosystem for today’s real-world media productions, educate attendees on a wide range of IP-related topics, and provide opportunities for knowledge sharing in a new meetup section.
As in previous years, a central educational element of the IP Showcase at the 2023 NAB Show will be the IP Showcase Theater, where industry professionals will be giving 20-minute presentations on a wide range of topics — from overviews of SMPTE ST 2110, AES67, AMWA-NMOS, and IPMX to case studies on IP deployments and basic tutorials for newcomers to the field of IP video production. Featured sessions will include:
- Compression
- Distributed IP Production
- Compliance Testing With the JT-NM
- Advanced Audio Applications
- SMPTE ST 2110 Launch Pad
- IPMX
- Media-over-IP Network Design
In addition, the “IP in Action” wall will be back at the 2023 NAB Show, where attendees can view additional information on different IP installations that have taken place. AIMS members will also be available to answer questions about today’s hot topics, such as ground-to-cloud, cloud-to-ground, AIMS’ IPMX set of open standards and specifications for AV-over-IP deployments, and the work that has taken place on standards over the past year.
New to the IP Showcase this year will be the meetup section, an open space with flexible seating where any attendee can host a conversation exploring any topic related to AV-over-IP, SMPTE ST 2110, or other proprietary protocols. Industry experts will be available to address meetups on their topic of choice. Furthermore, groups that already meet within standards organizations over Zoom and other platforms can utilize the meetup section for face-to-face meetings at the show.
“Education is the cornerstone of the IP Showcase and AIMS members have pulled out all the stops this year to provide more than 37 sessions. Unlike other NAB presentations that are company-sponsored or thought leadership opportunities, presentations in the IP Showcase Theater are delivered by hands-on engineers that can instruct attendees on exactly how to move to an IP infrastructure,” said Andrew Starks, an AIMS board of directors member and director of product management for Macnica. “However, we’ve also learned over the past eight years that attendees are eager to share ideas at the event, so for the 100th anniversary of NAB, we wanted to provide them with the opportunity to have these conversations in the new meetup section. It’s going to be an IP Showcase to remember, and we can’t wait to see people there.”
