This virtual event will look at SMPTE ST 2110, AMWA NMOS, and the proposed IPMX standards.
The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) has launched a new website dedicated to the alliance’s new Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) proposed set of open standards and specifications.
AIMS will showcase the new Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) proposed set of open standards and specifications and how they address the Pro AV industry’s needs.
The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) is welcoming a new member to its ranks in the form of Magewell.
Ever since the SMPTE ST 2110 media IP standards began to be published in 2018 after many years of work, there has been an understandable interest in audio circles concerning the overall adoption of the standards group – and the implementation of the AES67 audio-over-IP interoperability standard in particular.
The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) today announced that Silex Insight, a market-leading independent supplier of video IP codec and custom OEM solutions for AV, has become an AIMS member ̶̶ just as AIMS’ new Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) set of open standards and specifications gains traction in the AV industry.
The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) today announced that global engineering and electronics company Huawei has joined the alliance as a full member. A major player in the world’s digital transformation, Huawei is a leading provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure platforms and smart devices.
“As a nonprofit trade alliance, AIMS plays a critical role in promoting open, virtualized, IP-based standards and multivendor interoperability in the broadcast and media industries,” said Jeffrey Gao, president of the router and carrier Ethernet (CE) product line at Huawei. “As a global ICT solution provider, Huawei fully recognizes the huge potential of the IP-based transformation of production and broadcasting systems. We’re ready to work with AIMS members to promote the application of IP-based standards and accelerate their acceptance in the industry.”
Huawei’s Enterprise Business Group uses its technological strengths in cloud computing, big data, the internet of things, and artificial intelligence to provide open, flexible, and secure ICT infrastructure platforms that promote greater synergy between devices, networks, and the cloud. Huawei has collaborated with Hunan Broadcasting System and other partners on digital media solutions that meet broadcasters’ 4K/8K service requirements and have worked together to implement lossless, IP-based 4K production.
“Reaching the milestones on the AIMS roadmap requires a strong collected effort from dedicated manufacturers, users, trade groups, and allied organizations across the media industry,” said Michael Cronk, AIMS board chair. “Every new member brings critical new insight and expertise to the effort and takes us one step further down the road to standards-based IP transport for professional media.”

The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) today announced a newly elected 2018-2019 board of directors who will lead the organization’s effort toward a standards-based IP infrastructure for professional media. All existing board members — AIMS Board Chair Michael Cronk (Grass Valley), Deputy Board Chair Steve Reynolds (Imagine Communications), Chief Financial Officer Andreas Hilmer (Lawo), and Board Member Andy Warman (Harmonic) — were re-elected to their positions and are joined by newly elected Board Member Larissa Görner (Net Insight).
In Görner’s current role at Net Insight, she serves as the strategic product manager and head of live and remote production solutions. She works closely with the company’s broadcast customers to assist them with their transition to new IP-based technologies. With her combined experience with new IP-based technologies and new production workflows, Görner has helped customers get the most out of their transition to IP. She helps customers look beyond their in-studio projects and encourages them to take a closer look at distributed workflows utilizing wide area network connectivity, knowledge, and experience.
As a board member, Görner will help lead the AIMS effort to foster adoption of one set of common, ubiquitous, standards-based protocols for interoperability over IP in the media and entertainment industry.
“AIMS board members are committed to a common set of standards for IP media transport in the media and entertainment industry. Along with AIMS members and our colleagues in like-minded organizations, we work tirelessly to achieve this goal,” said Michael Cronk, AIMS board chair. “The transformative power of IP in our industry is clear, and it’s an honor to be part of such a dedicated group of people. I’m especially happy to have Larissa at the table and know that she’ll bring a fresh perspective and valuable insight and experience to our efforts.”
AIMS board members are selected annually. Their terms start immediately.
